Organize cell and module work by routing
Start by identifying actual production stages, operation boundaries, lot movement rules and responsibilities. Production tasks can then be released to relevant lines or work areas, with shop-floor feedback on status, input, output and exceptions supporting progress and work-in-process visibility.
Cell and module operations do not share identical management needs. The design should accommodate their respective process versions, work requirements and data collection points, while defining how material handoffs and lot transformations are recorded between stages.
Make key quality information retrievable
Inspection points, test results, disposition and exception handling from the quality plan can be associated with production lots or product identifiers. When a deviation occurs, teams can review available process and quality records for affected products to support containment and investigation.
Data collection should be driven by operational purpose and source reliability. For equipment or test-system values, confirm sampling timing, units, equipment identity and decision logic, then validate their meaning with site users during implementation.
Build genealogy from materials to finished product
Based on site identifiers and production organization, connect material lots, work orders, critical operations, equipment records, inspection outcomes and finished-product IDs. An appropriate level of traceability helps locate affected products and process records without relying solely on manual ledger searches.
The project team should agree on genealogy granularity, retention, interfaces and access roles, then validate forward and backward traceability with representative production lots. Delivery scope depends on plant processes, existing systems and mutually agreed project objectives.
